Fort Whyte Centre + My Favorites
A rural oasis inside the city, Fort Whyte offers more than 600 acres of aspen forest and tall grass prairie. When snow falls you can use snowshoes to trek the trails and visit the bison or try your luck ice fishing on Lake Devonian. The interpretive centre includes a Touch Museum and Aquarium of the Prairies. Dec 5: Father Christmas In the Forest. Have your picture taken with St. Nick from noon-3 pm ($5). Visit the Buffalo Stone Café and gift shop on-site. Mon-Fri 9 am-5 pm, Sat-Sun & holidays 10 am-5 pm. Adults $5, seniors $4, students/children $3, under 3 free.

Featuring Kingfisher Lake, which can be used for swimming and boating, there is also a network of trails that visitors can walk, cycle or horseback ride in the summer, and snowmobile and cross-country ski in winter. The park, which is home to the Winnipeg Folk Festival, contains a number of picnic areas and campgrounds.
